Hello!
My name is Ivo Costa and I am a geek
(wannabe, as I never feel worthy of the title...
there's just so much to learn and so little time!)
I get a kick out of problem-solving as I have a natural tendency to think of ways to reshape methods and trim processes in order to achieve better solutions.
My background ranges from Arts to Computer Science, going through marketing and design. I always use all my skills and knowledge to accomplish the mission at hand.
Throughout my life, I have integrated several projects that needed enhancements or even to be built from the ground up. Having the habit of adopting a bird view and following the workflow of things from ideation through final product iterations, gives me a better perspective to find what the user really needs.
Position: Video editor | Image consultant
The challenge: Story telling | Tight Schedules | To work with whatever Assets available
One day I was minding my own business and I was approached... They needed my story telling skills to solve multidimensional puzzles! Puzzles that had multiple solutions according to one's skill and creativity. They involved multiple variables like time, sound, color, and a particular attention to detail. That's how I got to work for Algarve Wedding Films as a Video Editor and image consultant.
Position: Community Teaching assistant | Social Media manager for the Design Course
One of my addictions is knowledge. I'm always searching for new things to learn and updating what I know, as well as dusting of some off the basics about the things I do.
I found Coursera and was having loads of fun as major Universities where teaching courses about everything.
Due to my performance in the Design course from Penn University, I was invited first to be a teaching assistant and later on to become a menthor.
They also felt I could improve their presence in the social network, as I have a Marketing Background, and nominated me Social Media Manager.
Position: University Teacher
When I was a taking my first master's, my colleages often asked me for help on how to do this and that. I really loved that discipline and even confessed to a colleage how I would love to teach.
A few years later, the course coordinator called inviting me to teach photography at the university.
I was honoured and thrilled and scared all at the same time.
It was the first year, so I had to define the syllabous, and organize everything from scratch.
Positions: Creative Director | Team Manager | Graphic Designer | Motion Graphics | Photographer | Videographer
In Imagem digital, we did music videos, events, promotional and institutional videos.
Positions: Art Director | Motion Graphics Designer
I've worked with “Sense Interaction” and “IA Media”, building several TV-shows for MTV Finland.
It was a fun challenge as I had the chance of working with an international TV doing something I loved. I had the chance to do Layout Design (static and animated), Virtual environments/scenery Design, Graphic Elements Design for Cellphone Multimedia Messages, and Motion Graphics for both show intros and advertisements.
Tasks:
Documents cataloging | Data Base structuring and Maintenance | Software Aplication Design | Design and automation of Statistic Reports | User Support | Event Support | Production of promotional materials
Positions: Project Manager | Team Coordenation | Maintenance | Statistic Analysis | Software Engeneering
The mission here was structuring and implementing the archive from the ground up.
That meant not only organizing the architectural and engeneering construction plans they stored, but also design a software aplication and it's database so they could be retrieved easely.
Usually this retrieving process would take about 3 weeks to find a process (if found... many were MIA).
When my work was complete that time was reduced to about 15 seconds from recieving the request to presenting it.
